Backup channel via Starlink
We are glad to offer a backup channel via the world-famous Starlink satellite internet network. Thanks to the innovative technologies we implemented in our network, you can connect this service for free or for a small fee – no need to buy an expensive terminal and pay about $120 monthly. Such a backup channel is especially relevant during martial law.
To use two channels we replace your single-port optical terminal (ONT) with a multi-port one. Through one port you keep receiving our internet, and through another – the Starlink backup channel. To switch you can move the cable between ports, use two routers, or set up automatic failover if your equipment supports it.
Questions and answers
Who might be interested in this service?
All subscribers and companies – nobody is insured against emergencies, especially during martial law, and the price is affordable for everyone. Some use it as a backup channel, others may simply want to try satellite internet.
Is the service available to all your subscribers?
It is available to all subscribers connected via GPON fiber. That is most, though not all, subscribers. If you are connected via another technology, we will first switch you to GPON – contact our hotline for details.
How much does the service cost?
A one-time fee of 400 UAH for replacing the single-port terminal with a multi-port one. There is no monthly fee during martial law and for 60 days after the war ends. We will announce the future fee in advance (approximately 29 UAH/mo). If your router supports VLANs and you can configure it yourself, the one-time fee is also waived (we provide all parameters).
Can the price increase in the future?
Yes, it can. As a provider we may revise prices, but we will announce any changes in advance.
Can corporate subscribers use this service?
Yes. The price may be slightly higher – contact our hotline for details.
What is the speed of this channel?
The speed is distributed evenly among all subscribers using the service, but no lower than 10 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up. That is enough for messengers and browsing sites without heavy content.
Can I cancel the service later?
Yes, at any moment.
Do I need to swap the terminal back to single-port after cancelling?
Not necessarily. You can keep using the multi-port terminal, and if you decide to reconnect the backup channel later, no repeated replacement is needed.
How exactly is the backup channel provided?
Our Starlink terminals are located in different parts of Lviv and some nearby settlements, mostly within 1-3 km of your home or office. A separate link is built from your optical terminal to the Starlink terminals that bypasses our main switches, routers and backbones. If a network accident or backbone cable break occurs, you can switch to the backup channel and stay online. If the cable between your terminal and the nearest OLT node breaks, the backup channel will not work either. We keep adding Starlink terminals, reducing distances and increasing reliability.
Can I use only the Starlink channel without the main internet?
No. An active main internet connection is a condition of the backup channel.
If my main internet account is unpaid, does the backup channel block too?
No. The backup channel disconnects only after 30 days of main internet inactivity.
Can the backup channel go through another provider instead of Starlink?
Yes. With a multi-port optical terminal we can provide a backup channel via many other providers we cooperate with. The cost is calculated separately. Such a channel can be connected within hours (note: it is not a 100% backup).
How do I order the service?
Sign in to the personal account, choose "Backup Internet" on the left and press "Send request". If the button is missing, you are not on GPON – contact the hotline first to switch.
How long does the connection request take?
Usually within 1 business day. With many requests it can take several days.
