Issues with some TP-Link Archer A6 and C6 routers
Together with TP-Link we identified an issue with TP-Link Archer A6 and Archer C6 routers of hardware versions 2 and 3. Version 4 is not affected.
The issue: the internet connection drops; after power-cycling the router the internet comes back but drops again after 10 minutes.
The issue was diagnosed and fixed in new firmware versions for the following TP-Link models:
- Archer C6 v2 (EU region) – firmware 1.3.7 of 13.06.2022
- Archer C6 v2 (RU region) – firmware 1.3.0 of 05.06.2020
- Archer C6 v3.2 (EU and RU regions) – firmware 1.0.14 of 23.09.2022
- Archer C64 v1 (EU region) – firmware 1.14.3 of 24.10.2025
- Archer C54 v1 (EU region) – firmware 1.12.20 of 08.09.2023*
* The Archer C54 has no automatic update function, so the firmware file (.BIN) must be uploaded manually via Advanced → System → Firmware Upgrade → New Firmware File. Download the firmware.
To fix the issue, install the latest firmware on the router.
Quick guide
- Connect to the router and open its settings page at
http://tplinkwifi.net - Enter the router's admin password. Possible options: admin, admin1, admin123 or admin321. Or enter your Wi-Fi password.
- At the bottom of the page you can see the hardware version and firmware version. Compare them, and if yours is older than those listed – proceed to the update.
The update is in Advanced → System Tools → Firmware Upgrade. Press "Check for Upgrade". The latest update will be found and you will be prompted to start the procedure – confirm it.
The update takes about 3 minutes, the router reboots – and starts working correctly.
If you cannot update it yourself, contact our technical service and book a technician visit.
